Learning this skill deepens your knowledge how to deal with dangerous natural beasts. Over time of dealing with them, you will learn some new tricks - where to pet them, what they like, how to reward them properly for good behavior, what you should avoid doing to not anger them. When armed with this knowledge, you can optimize your exertion, which will in turn allow you to control more pets at once before they start to revolt. And even when they do revolt, you can sometimes manage to at least clean the bond to them properly, before they get too far away.
